Jet Airways, Rough Take-off
Now this is interesting, just the day before yesterday I read a newsitem about a US company Jet Airways Inc who filed a petition with the US Transportation Department objecting to Jet Airways' (India) plans to a Mumbai-New York flights slated to commence from 23rd June. The US company is accusing the top Indian private airlines of links with Al Qaeda and has gone on to say that granting permission to the airline will lead to Al Qaeda controlling and flying aircrafts over American cities.
This is totally preposterous, I know that there has been some investigation a couple of years ago, whether Dawood Ibrahim ( who may be related to Al Qaeda ) had laundered money in the Airlines but all such theories were put to rest after the investigation. The Airline has recently gone public and has been in profit for a long time now and just when it was about to go global after the nod from the Government, a US company which doesn't even own a aircraft has conjured up a storm. The issue is somewhat trademark related but the US firm was established in 2002, long after the Indian company.
Jet Airways (India) is suing the American company and I hope they kick a**. But all this fuss has led to rescheduling ( read postpone ) of the US operations of the airlines.
